  As opposed to the unknown sex offenders the Society hides behind a cloak of secrecy.

  By the way, did they mention any "apostate lies" in your talk, such as "Jehovah's witnesses supported hitler in WWII". Just curious, because although I heard that on the YouTube version of the talk, my wife didn't hear that at her DC.

  Hello and my exit story from WTS

  i thought it was fitting for me to share my freedom from the witnesses story on independence day weekend.. i dont have any secret info, just experiences that happened to me and started to open my eyes.. i was a third generation, raised in the truth kid who was never supposed to be born, and then never supposed to graduate high school.

  ive now been out of high school longer than i was in school.. the beginning of the end started a little less than a decade ago.

  i was late 20s at the time.

  hello, first let me apologixe for both my spelling and my grammer in advance, both are not my strong points.. i'll keep this short.

  since i've been a child my mother has studied on and off with jw's ( i'm now 34) so i've been around it most of my life, i studied on and off myself for around 10 years.

  thank's to this site and jwfacts i'll never study or step foot inside a kingdom hall again.

  There also seems to be a big push at remodeling halls and even building new to replace older models.

  Projects that have been on hold for literally decades are getting a green light, and the society is lending money left and right.

  Is this their investment in the future (i.e. Satan's Wicked Ole System o' Things)?

  i'm not posting here to boast, but to encourage any who may have abandoned education because of the pressure as a jw, and who may feel that it's too late to return and achieve such goals.

  in the 1980s i stopped halfway through my b.ed honours and accepted a dip.h.e.

  per the ministry school schedule, the bible reading continues in the book of acts.

  in chapter 12 king herod arrests peter and throws him in prison, meaning to "produce him" for the jews after the passover (evidently to be executed).

  an angel appears to peter in prison, releases his bonds and walks him out of the gate of the jail.

  Thanks for starting this thread - it inspired me to do a little research on my own which led to a discussion with my wife.

  Basically I told her there was much more to this passage than the predictable, canned WT response. According to bible commentators, there a multiple ways of viewing this verse: (1) it could have been a human messenger of Peter, not neccesarily angelic (2) it could have been a guardian angel according to one of the Jewish superstitions at the time (3) according to another superstition, you might be visited by an apparition of a person who is about to die which presages their approaching death (4) it is Peters ghost (5) the lame WT interpretation.

  So, I asked my wife Why don't they mention any of these other ideas? Well we came up with a few reasons: (a) the society does not want to cast doubt upon the beleifs of those "early Christians" and they want you to think first century Christians were all part of one cohesive, united religion, which any true student of that time knows is false. (b) they keep it simple because they don't want to confuse dumb people. Here's your answer, that's it, think no further (c) they want to reinforce their own worldview and doctrine and thus feel the need to disambiguate this passage.

  My wife was impressed. I said There's a big and endlessly fascinating world out there outside of WatchtowerLand.
